There's something about water that naturally calms and captivates children. At Every Sensation, our hydrotherapy pool is one of the most loved spaces in the building — and for good reason.

What Is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy uses warm water in a specialist pool to support physical therapy, sensory regulation, and emotional wellbeing. The water is kept at a comfortable temperature (typically 33–35°C), and sessions are led by trained staff who tailor each experience to the child.

Unlike swimming lessons, hydrotherapy isn't about learning strokes. It's about using the unique properties of water — buoyancy, resistance, and warmth — to help children move, relax, and engage.

Benefits for Children

  • Improved muscle tone and coordination — water provides natural resistance that strengthens muscles without the impact of land-based exercise.
  • Sensory regulation — the deep pressure of water can have a calming, organising effect on the nervous system.
  • Increased confidence — children who struggle with movement on land often feel freer and more capable in water.
  • Pain relief — warm water relaxes tight muscles and joints, making movement easier and more comfortable.
  • Social connection — shared pool sessions provide a gentle environment for interaction and play.

What a Session Looks Like

Each hydrotherapy session at Every Sensation is tailored to the child. Some sessions focus on gentle floating and relaxation, while others involve active play with water toys, supported movement, or guided exercises.

Our staff work closely with each child's care team to set goals — whether that's improving range of motion, building tolerance to water textures, or simply enjoying a positive, sensory-rich experience.

A Parent's Perspective

"My daughter used to be terrified of water. After just a few sessions, she was laughing and splashing. The team made her feel so safe — it's transformed her confidence."

Hydrotherapy is just one of the many specialist therapies we offer. If you think your child could benefit, get in touch with our team to learn more.
