Therapeutic Support That Fits the Child

At Every Sensation Children Services, we believe that meaningful progress happens when support is shaped around the child — not the other way around. Our therapeutic sessions are designed to meet each child where they are, using approaches that reflect their interests, sensory needs, and developmental goals.

Whether a child responds best to movement, creative play, sensory exploration, or structured activities, our team tailors every session to create the right environment for growth and engagement.

Our Approach

Every therapy session is guided by five core principles that ensure children feel safe, engaged, and supported throughout their journey with us.

Child-Led Engagement

Sessions follow the child’s lead, interests, and pace — creating space for them to feel in control and build confidence naturally.

Play-Based Approaches

Play is a child’s first language. We use structured and free play to develop communication, social skills, and emotional expression.

Sensory-Informed Practice

Every session considers each child’s sensory profile, adapting the environment and activities to avoid overwhelm and promote regulation.

Predictable Structures

Routines, visual supports, and consistent environments help children feel safe, reducing anxiety and supporting engagement.

Positive Reinforcement

Celebrating every achievement — no matter how small — builds a child’s self-belief and motivation to keep exploring.

Core Therapy Areas

Our five core therapy areas work together to support the whole child — aquatic, sensory, physical, emotional, and social development.

Hydrotherapy

Our heated 9 by 4 metre hydrotherapy pool provides a uniquely calming and therapeutic environment for children. The warmth and buoyancy of the water, combined with multi-functioning LED mood lighting and whirlpool options, creates a sensory-rich space that promotes relaxation, mobility, and confidence. With overhead tracking hoists, every child can access and benefit from hydrotherapy regardless of their physical abilities.

  • Heated pool with whirlpool options and LED mood lighting for sensory stimulation
  • Overhead tracking hoists for full accessibility
  • One-to-one supervision from trained support workers
  • Movements and exercises tailored to each child’s individual needs

Sensory-Based Therapeutic Support

Our sensory-based sessions are designed to help children explore and respond to sensory input in a safe, controlled environment. Using specialist sensory rooms equipped with fibre optics, bubble tubes, tactile surfaces, and projection technology, we create tailored sensory experiences that help each child develop awareness, comfort, and self-regulation.

  • Tactile, visual, auditory, and proprioceptive activities
  • Tailored sensory diets based on individual profiles
  • Gradual exposure in a safe, calming environment
  • Equipment includes bubble tubes, fibre optics, weighted items, and interactive projections

Play-Based Therapeutic Sessions

Play is the natural language of childhood. Our play-based sessions use structured and creative play to support social development, emotional expression, and communication skills. Through imaginative play, construction, games, and interactive activities, children develop problem-solving abilities and build meaningful connections with others.

  • Structured and free play adapted to each child’s interests
  • Turn-taking, sharing, and cooperative play skills
  • Imaginative and role-play for emotional understanding
  • Creative activities including art, crafts, and construction

Movement-Led Support

Physical movement is a powerful tool for regulation, coordination, and confidence. Our movement-led sessions use trampolining, climbing, balancing, sports, and guided physical activities to support motor skills, body awareness, and emotional wellbeing. With specialist equipment including hoists for accessibility, every child can participate fully.

  • Trampolining with specialist hoists for full accessibility
  • Balance, coordination, and gross motor skill development
  • Sports hall activities including football and ball games
  • Proprioceptive and vestibular input through structured movement

Emotional Regulation Support

Learning to recognise, understand, and manage emotions is a vital life skill. Our emotional regulation sessions use a combination of visual supports, breathing techniques, sensory strategies, and guided conversation to help children develop coping mechanisms, resilience, and emotional literacy in a safe, supportive space.

  • Emotion identification and expression through visual tools
  • Breathing, grounding, and calming strategies
  • Social stories and scenario-based learning
  • One-to-one and small group formats tailored to need

Supporting Children Beyond the Session

Therapeutic progress doesn't stop when a session ends. We work closely with families and professionals to ensure that the strategies, skills, and routines developed during sessions carry through into everyday life.

This includes sharing practical strategies for home, providing regular feedback and progress updates, and collaborating with schools, therapists, and other professionals involved in the child's care. Our goal is consistency — so that every child feels supported no matter where they are.

  • Practical strategies shared with families for use at home
  • Regular progress reviews and transparent communication
  • Collaboration with schools and external professionals
  • Transition support as children grow and needs change

Working in Partnership With Families

Families are at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that parents and carers know their child best, and we value their insight, experience, and involvement at every stage. From initial assessments to ongoing reviews, families are active partners in shaping the support their child receives.

We maintain open, honest communication and welcome questions at any time. Whether it's a quick check-in or a detailed review meeting, we are always here to listen and to ensure that every family feels informed, involved, and supported.

Open Communication

Regular updates, transparent feedback, and an open-door approach to every conversation.

Family Involvement

Parents and carers are active partners in goal-setting, planning, and review processes.

Ongoing Support

Guidance, resources, and reassurance for families throughout their child’s journey.
